From "Environmental Improvement Programme 2023-24: New bidding round"

Proposed budget

GBP 3,000

Description

There are two openings to Chesterton Rec which open directly onto the narrow pavement of Elizabeth Way, which is a busy road. There are no gates so it would be easy for children or dogs to run straight out into the road.

One could still be kept as open access but with a fence like has been used on Davey Road by Coleridge Rec or with some planting, such as a hedge.

The other one closer to the bridge could have some planting alongside the path.

The Rec has a lovely playground and toilets and is used by many residents so it would also be good to add some new planting such as a wildflower patch.
