Generally the move towards fewer street lights has left areas in complete darkness. For example, if I go to my mum's house her house used to have a streetlight outside, but it was removed. She's now in a spot that's as far from a streetlight as possible and when I leave her house it's so dark I can't even see the curb to step down it - I have to use a torch to step down a curb.
