Reinstate woodland

From "Phase 1: Understanding your neighbourhood and establishing a vision (map)"

Go to the project

In the seventies the area to the north of Kings Hedges road was woodland, farmland and other open space all the way to Histon. Even when I was a child the woods around the Holiday Inn lake were accessible woodland (albeit by walking along the disused railway line). The open space to the north of the city lacks woodland (like Wandlebury, etc to the south) and I think the open spaces we do have could be more informal, with more trees planted. Local children without access to a car can't experience the joy of playing in the woods! It would obviously be on a smaller scale in an urban area.
