Dear Lilian,
Thank you for your project application idea, the project concept would contribute towards improving the local environment. This project was taken to the North Area Committee 13/11/2023 for consideration within the funding and criteria for EIP area funding. Following North Area Committee consideration and Officer recommendations this area project was unfortunately not approved. The key reasons for this were that the EIP programme was oversubscribed consequently the proposal was therefore not within our our overall programme budget, the area is not in City Council ownership indicated and the improvement proposed is not a high priority of the EIP funds and or the key target e.g. biodiversity improvement.
Kind Regards
Safety for schoolchildren and Elderly on the Carisbrooke Road Green footway
From "Environmental Improvement Programme 2023-24: New bidding round"
Go to the project

During the dark months of the year, many of the schoolchildren and residents find that there are some murky corners under our wonderful trees and by the school entrance on the Carisbrooke Road Green. James Ogle has supplied 3 proposals for low maintenance wayfinding lightning for the crossroad and the school entrance which can be presented at the time of consultation. The lightning will improve on safety for the elderly as well.

A worthwhile project, but funding should come from Highways at the County Council not from the limited City EIP fund.

@fran Court Dear Fran This is an addition to an already ongoing EIP biodiversity project in a very special area. It used to be private land then government took over and the city council is in charge of maintenane. The verges around this green space belong to Highways but we are not planning any lighting on the verges.

A zebra crossing at the Carisbrooke/ Windsor or a little further down would be really helpful.
