Creating meeting spaces at Coleridge recreation ground
Open for comments from Monday 8 July to Sunday 4 August 2024.
We are seeking feedback on proposals to install picnic benches across Coleridge recreation ground and cycle racks near the children's play area.
These installations are proposed with the intention of creating spaces to meet across the park.
Proposed installations
Picnic benches
- Two picnic benches on the west side of the recreation ground, between the mature trees - this would give those watching games on the main field somewhere to stop and socialise and feel part of the action. Moreover, this particular stretch gives a view of the whole length of the park.
- At least one picnic bench on the east side of the recreation ground, near the tennis courts - to enable groups to wait for use of the court or watch the tennis.
- One picnic bench in the corner close to the Fanshawe Road allotments - this corner is often used by young people. Picnic benches would provide them with more spaces to meet.

Cycle racks
Cycle racks for families visiting the children's play area to improve access. At present, the only cycle racks are next to the tennis courts.
