Improving biodiversity in Arbury Town Park
Open for comments from Friday 1 to Monday 25 March 2024.
Environmental Improvement Programme (EIP) funding has been approved for the purpose of improving biodiversity in Arbury Town Park.
Arbury Town Park is one of a number of recreation grounds we manage around the city. It is an established recreational green space for sport, socialising, events and nature in King's Hedges ward.
The park is the green space adjacent to Campkin Road and Arbury Road, behind Arbury Community Centre.
Proposals for the project are to improve biodiversity through a number of measures including:
- wildflower/grass meadow planting on newly developed bug bunds on the edges of the green space
- additional hedgerow planting along the Arbury Road boundary
- wildflower and bulb planting under the trees of the green space
- tree planting to increase canopy cover and increase biodiversity
- deadwood logs to encourage further wildlife
- bee banks to encourage miner bees and other similar species
- proposals will not impinge upon the Arbury Carnival
Please see the draft plan below.
