Improving biodiversity in Green End Road recreation ground
Open for comments from Thursday 8 May to Wednesday 25 June 2025.
Environmental Improvement Programme (EIP) funding has been approved for the purpose of improving biodiversity and seating in Green End Road recreation ground.
Green End Road recreation ground is one of a number of recreation grounds we manage across the city. It is an established recreational green space for sport, socialising, events and nature in East Chesterton ward.

The recreation ground is the green space adjacent to Green End Road and encapsulated by Cam Causeway, The Green, Frank's Lane and Green End Road.
Proposals for the project are to improve biodiversity and social interaction through a number of measures including:
- wildflower/grass meadow turf on the bunds around the edges of the play and football areas
- vertically installed deadwood logs with bulb planting to encourage further wildlife
- three bench seats alongside the east to west pathway across the recreation ground
